As another year comes to a close; I look forward to new beginnings, new opportunities, new friendships and setting new intentions for the year ahead.

Today has been one of those days, very emotional when i feel so lucky and blessed about our lives. l reminiscing about my favorite moments by taking the time to appreciate all the little + big things that were a part of my life in the past year.  And again, I realised how much joy and happiness Ithaki House has brought to us. I wanted to take a moment to reflect on on this incredible journey that we have been blessed for the past 3 years.

“As we set out for Ithaki…..”…Simos & I really did not know what to expect.

We were looking for our own holiday home in ‘dad’s land’ for a few years… The only way we could afford this was by renting it out. It was important to be able to cover its expenses and not become a burden on our family budget. With two kids below the ages of 10, expenses were already running high and with no end!

It’s been nearly three years and I have discovered a new lease of life! I do absolutely love being a host!

Working for nearly 30 years in the corporate world, hospitality has been a breath of fresh air. It has given me a chance to discover, create, grow…… It has given me a reason to want to learn more … and more. I have no studies or training on hospitality. I learned by doing, by using my common sense, by always putting myself in my guest’s shoes, by observing others and by being critical to even the most minute detail. Hospitality is about creating unique guest experiences. To do that you not only you have to know your guests and make a great first impression, but you have to go above and beyond to make them feel at home. Every guest is unique; we anticipate their needs and deliver before they even ask. If they have to ask I get annoyed with myself…always questioning: Why didn’t I think of that? I should have thought of that first!

A happy guest will come again. A happy guest will tell others about their experience. A happy guest is the best advertising any money can buy. In our books our guests always come first. It is as simple as that.

These past few years have been so fulfilling. We have enjoyed welcoming guests and making friends from all over the world. All our guests comment on the exceptional hospitality they receive from the minute they book, plan their trip, during their stay and upon departure. We are so appreciative and proud of the wonderful reviews. The highlight of my day is when I read comments in our guest book. Every single one is special. And the biggest compliment is when we receive a booking for the following year the moment our guests return home! Our 2020 calendar is full of return bookings; we even have a booking for September 2021! This is absolutely mind-blowing!

Ithaki will always be special. After all it was love at first sight that lasts until today…. and beyond! Am so happy to see that Ithaki spreads its magic to every single one of our guests as well.

So from the bottom of our hearts we would like to say a HUGE Thank You to all of you who follow, support us and are helping us live our dream. From those of you who like/share/comment on our posts (you have no idea how much difference this makes!) to those of you who book your holidays with us & to the people that support us in so many other ways so that we can deliver a truly special guest experience. We simply couldn’t do it without you!

However you are seeing in the New Year we hope you have a wonderful evening & we’ll see you in 2020!

With all our love,

Simos & Christina
